In situations where there is no ensemble in school, student must be certified by an eligible music teacher at that school or a private teacher who is an LMEA member. Students auditioning must be enrol in Louisiana-accredit High School and must be active members of that school's String or instrumental Ensemble program. The Ensemble Director of students auditioning must be a current LMEA member. INFORMATION ABOUT DISTRICT LEVEL AUDITIONS-Strings, Piano, Harp students auditioning must be in 9-12 grade. Their AUDITIONS will be recorded by the DISTRICT Director or designated ORCHESTRA chair and submitted to the ORCHESTRA division chair for adjudication. Ordinarily, one harp player and one piano player will be selected for membership in ALL-STATE ORCHESTRA. Wind and percussion students should refer to Audition INFORMATION found in the ALL-STATE Band section and follow that audition procedure.
These AUDITIONS are recorded by the DISTRICT Director or designated ORCHESTRA chair and submitted to the ORCHESTRA division chair for adjudication. String students are chosen by recorded AUDITIONS. Rehearsals and performance are normally the weekend before Thanksgiving. 2020 ALL-STATE ORCHESTRA CLINICIAN: Sey Ahn, Director of Symphony ORCHESTRA and Wind Ensemble at Illinois Wesleyan University LMEA ALL-STATE ORCHESTRA includes approximately 100 students, selected by Audition. LMEA ALL-STATE ORCHESTRA for the 2020-21 school year has been rescheduled for March 27-29 2021. Wind and percussion AUDITIONS will follow the procedure outline for the Band. However, the postmark deadline has been pushed back to November 13 2020. Strings and Piano AUDITIONS will take place as usual. Please read ALL recording Audition protocols and eligibility requirements before submitting any recorded AUDITIONS. If your recording site is unavailable, ORCHESTRA Director or private instructor will be responsible for recording Audition.
